"Enraptured, Enlightened"

by Joseph McCombs

A million thoughts in my staggered mind
And each one somehow deals with you
A million dreams, all tossed aside
Subservient to all you do
A lifetime passes through my head
And through it all, your image clear
A million times, I'd rather be dead
Yet something somehow keeps me here.

A million pictures of your face
Each one, shining something new
Close images of warm embrace
Enraptured by the sight of you
A million poems I have read
Enlightened millions' points of view
But still, the picture in my head
Can only be the dream of you.

Your melody and smooth refrain
Are all that can and does remain.
