"Family Album"

by Joseph McCombs

My mother choked on the title of "wife"
So she drove off in a fast car
My brother joked around all of his life
And now he's a superstar

If it's true that fruit doesn't fall far from the tree
Then the apples and the oranges are all falling on me

          But I don't care anymore
I've got nothing to prove to a closing door
          I really don't care anymore
There are some things not worth fighting for.

My father drank his way out of my world
And I don't miss him all that much
The other role models called me a girl
They're all hopelessly out of touch

If the sins of the fathers are the sins of the sons
Then I've sinned more than just about anyone

          But I don't care anymore
I've got nothing to prove to a closing door
          I really don't care anymore
There are some things not worth fighting for.
