Miscellaneous Haiku

by Leah L. Cole

Rib bones dried by sun
Stick up through the hardpan crust
Like weeds in the wind

Silently I burn
Limpid pools of cold fire
Yearning for release

Protected by night
My masks drop quickly away
Leaving me naked

Near dusk silence falls
Reality slips away
I am one with the night
