Poem for Lightning Rose
(inspired by Paul Kantner)

by Joseph McCombs

she was full of heavy energy
like a war survivor
who's not yet told her tale

walking through a city of dimmed fire
her head rose above
all the others in the groundswell

she sang to herself of dragons
and the lightness of the earth
as she approached the waterfall

and she bathed in the water
like an indigo infant,
like a God-chosen child.
