Preface to a Message

"This is important." Why the need
for such a disclaimer? Are we so dull
that word should travel from skull to skull
and never leave the faintest impression?

"This is important." Would you heed
these words, if they remained unuttered,
if instead, I only muttered,
"I hope this grabs your fleeting attention"?
