To See and Remove Your Pain

by Joseph McCombs

Pain is making cowards of us all,
driving us from our favorite places
into solitary bedroom jails

some even say it is better to be alone
than to be with someone

and a lot of people lie when it comes to their pain
cause pain admits that we needed
and pain knows what we longed for
and pain suspects that we might even have loved
if we had the chance

but we've no time for confessionals in our hearts today
so the pain stays deep, infesting the basement,
slowly invading the other rooms

and I am here to clean up your attic.
