For Yvette, Whom I Promised a Poem

by Joseph McCombs

Our money bought the most liberal books,
The most liberal profs; and so we took
En masse, the deconstructionists' pledge of allegiance.

We're fat with knowledge, and self-assured,
But I find I'm learning so much more
From the women who take crude orders from drunk collegiates.

Cheryl at Otter's, Yvette at Country Fair:
Someone appreciates you, somewhere.
