Remote Editor: A Better Way

Ed sucks!

Let's face it.  ed is a pretty good program for making simple changes, but its not very convenient for writing large amounts of code.  Spam for various channels gets in your way and you have to delete entire lines to fix one mis-typed character.

There's a better way however.  Dreamverse is compatible with a program called Remote Editor (Remote Cre)

Remote editor is available on the Internet at http://195.113.25.225/~mbru3168/products/reditor/remote.htm.  I've had trouble converting their code to a useable application, so I've mirrored it here.  It's in a zipped archive and is Windows compatible..  Download it by clicking here and unzipping the archive.

Next you'll need to copy a file into your directory on Dreamverse.  Copy the file /remote_cre/remote.c into your own /adm directory.  (/remote_cre/README has instructions for this).  Therefore, if your creator name was Ghengis, you would first create a directory called "adm" in your root directory and then type <cp /remote_cre/remote.c /realms/ghengis/adm>.  If you are having trouble with this, review the DVU course About Files.
