An Overview of Remote Editor

Logging In

Open Remote Editor and log into Dreamverse by selection "Login" from the File menu.  This will open the Connect dialogue box.

Remote Editor Login
Profile: A handy way you can store login information for multiple muds.  The version of Remote Editor on this site already has Dreamverse created as a profile, but you might want to modify it to include your creator name and password.  Make the changes you want, give it a new name, and click "Add".

Host : This is the site you will connect to, in this case mud.dreamverse.org.  The Port to connect to is 9590.

Login: Your creator name

Password: Your creator password.  Remember that if you store it here permanently, anyone using your computer could log in using Remote Editor.  Selecting "save" will have your password stored.

e-mail : Remote Editor requires this field.  I don't know what it does, but Dreamverse doesn't use it.

The File Browser

Remote Editor functions very much like a combination of the Windows 3.1 file management system and a basic text editor.  The browser shows you your file list.  You can change directories upward by double-clicking your mouse on the "..", or enter another folder by double-clicking it's name.  Open a file by double-clicking as well.

When you open a file, you'll be able to work with it just as if you were in notepad.  Make sure you save your work!  Common file commands are in the "File" menu.
Remote Editor

You can open as many files simultaneously as your computer's memory can handle.  This is a great feature for copying and pasting code or comparing a file to something else you've written.
